When you create a new user whom you wish to be able to log in to the dashboard, you must turn on the ‘Can Log In’ option. When you create a user who can log in, that user will be sent an email automatically which will allow them to set their own password to activate their access.

You cannot set the password for a user which has not yet been verified and activated via email. Users with access to the root folder and who have User Configuration rights may set the password for an existing user, unless that user is associated with multiple NiTO accounts (a single username/email address may be associated with multiple accounts using the same password, and you cannot effect their ability to access their other accounts. In this scenario, only the user themselves may reset their password).

Typically you’ll create users who can log in to the NiTO dashboard, however, you may want to define users who will only receive notifications without access to the dashboard. If you leave off the ‘Can Log In’ option for a user, they will not be sent an activation email upon creation, and will not be able to access the dashboard; they may be added to contact groups to receive alerting notifications.

If you’re having trouble logging in, see Logging In.
