Pricing Model

NiTO is a SaaS which means that you don’t have to juggle any of the overhead costs and manpower of managing NiTO’s underlying infrastructure. All hardware and updates are managed by NiTORom Inc. and are included in NiTO’s subscriptions fees.

Pricing varies among the many different types of devices that NiTO supports and has been calculated fairly based on the amount of storage that each type typically requires. Retention (how far back you can query time-series data) is also a significant factor, and we give you control to increase or decrease retention on a per-device basis, with 3 months being the default retention period for paid accounts (24 hours for free accounts).

A few basic principles and conditions to keep in mind for paid accounts:

  • Agent and SNMP devices are priced at $5 each and are bundled in tens. There’s a minimum of 1 bundle of agent/SNMP devices for paid accounts, effectively making the minimum cost $50 USD/month.
  • For every agent/SNMP bundle of 10, you are allotted up to 100 SMS/phone notifications per month for all devices. Overage will be charged at $2 for every additional 100 SMS/phone notifications, capped at $100 max overage.
  • One bundle of 5 HTTP-like devices is included for free with all paid accounts, valued at $1 per bundle (effectively as low as $0.20 per HTTP-like device); HTTP-like devices include HTTP(S) checks, ping, TCP port, and similar types which don’t require a lot of storage to track historical monitoring data.
  • Device types that don’t fall into the categories of agent/SNMP and HTTP-like, which use less data than agent/SNMP while significantly more than HTTP-like, such “trace ping” for monitoring jitter, and log monitoring, are typically charged at $1 each.
  • API metrics are charged in addition to their associated devices, at $1 for every bundle of 5 metrics.

The above are just a few key points; for a full breakdown of device types and associated costs. When adding a device that will increase your monthly plan fees, users will be prompted for confirmation, and upon confirmation, the credit card associated with the account will be charged immediately for the difference within that month.

Invoicing

Invoices are generated and charged against your credit card at the end of each month, for the upcoming month, based on the number of devices that are active on your account. You will also be invoiced and charged whenever you add devices that require an additional bundle, for example:

  • Let’s say you have 5 agent devices, 5 SNMP devices, and 10 HTTP hosts at the end of November (that’s 1 bundle of agent/SNMP devices and 2 bundles of HTTP-like devices):
  • You will be invoiced and your credit card charged automatically on November 30th for the upcoming billing period of December 1-31, totaling $50 for 1 bundle of agent/SNMP devices, plus $1 for 1 bundle of HTTP-like devices (the first HTTP-like bundle is included for free on all paid accounts).
  • Then, on December 10th you add another HTTP check. This will trigger an automatic “Upgrade Invoice” and a $1 charge against your credit card, immediately on the 10th.
  • You are now using 11/15 available HTTP-like checks and will not be charged again within the month, even if you add 4 more HTTP-like devices (if you add a 16th HTTP-like check you will trigger another upgrade, and so on).
  • On December 31st your invoice will include charges for 1 agent/SNMP bundle of 10, and 3 HTTP-like bundles (1 included for free), totaling $52.
