NiTO Feature Spotlight: Customized Dashboards
NiTO was designed to make IT management and infrastructure monitoring as simple as possible. That’s why the platform will automatically send you an email, SMS, or phone alert whenever anything goes wrong, allowing you to keep tabs on your network even when you’re not logged into the system.
However, any responsible IT technician will still be monitoring the back end regularly. With that in mind, NiTO’s user interface was designed with a similar eye towards convenience and utility. In addition to making IT simpler, we wanted to make it easy to interpret the data so you can make better decisions for your organization.
The result is NiTO’s customizable dashboard functionality. The drag-and-drop feature allows you to choose from dozens of different widgets that let you determine exactly what pieces of information are presented to you when you access the NiTO portal.
“When a user logs into NiTO, they want to be able to see the devices and metrics that are most important to them, at a glance, immediately. Dashboards allow them to define exactly what and how they see it,” says Andrew Brenton, the Head of Application Development at NiTO.
“You may setup a dashboard that focuses on a single app, or you may have one that’s heavily focused on the MS Exchange servers, or one that focuses on remote office workstations.”
No matter what you choose, the dashboard will always resize to display all of your information on a single screen, so you never need to scroll down to compare statistics. That makes NiTO much more convenient than alternative tools that force you to open and sift through multiple tabs in order to compare data from two different devices.
“Dashboards allow you to present application-specific information about multiple systems in a single view,” explains Brenton. “Everything you add to a dashboard is always on screen.”
NiTO is consequently able to give you a much better sense of the big picture when you’re trying to evaluate the overall health and performance of your entire network. Anyone who needs a more granular perspective will still be able to select individual devices from the NiTO menu. A customized dashboard will simply offer an overview that has far more visual clarity, allowing users to decide whether they want to have their data displayed as a line graph, a bar graph, or in some other format that will be much easier to parse than a standard spreadsheet.
“The dashboard contains a high level view of what’s happening in your monitored environment,” said Brenton. He went on to add that that high level view is constantly adjusted to reflect the most recent activity on your network. “Unlike static reports, this data is updated dynamically so it will always show up to date information about your infrastructure.”
Of course, it is possible to use NiTO without customizing your dashboard. Users who haven’t set one up will be treated to a generic default dashboard that can’t be customized with NiTO’s useful array of extra features.
That’s why NiTO encourages users to create a new dashboard that meets their specific needs. That dashboard can then be set as the new default, allowing you to get to the information you need without clicking through different menu screens and opening a confusing array of tabs. NiTO users can then create additional dashboards after they’ve established a new default, with software that makes it easy to switch between multiple interfaces and dashboards.
Taken together, NiTO provides businesses with a comprehensive IT platform for the entire enterprise. People across the company will able to use the app to set a default dashboard that displays the information most relevant to their specific department, with a framework that condenses an overwhelming amount of data into a streamlined and comprehensible report.
A customizable dashboard can help anyone cut through the noise of enterprise IT. With NiTO, the goal was to do it in a way that makes sense for you, and to make it as easy as possible to get to that point when you start using the app. We’re confident that we’ve created a platform that can solve any IT challenge while responding to the needs of any IT professional!
